The Sacrament of Confirmation

With Baptism and Eucharist, Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation. Through the outpouring of the special gifts of the Holy Spirit, Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by confirming or sealing the baptized person's union with Jesus Christ by equipping them for a mature, active participation in the life of the Church.

Here at St. Joseph, Confirmation is celebrated every other year. Our next celebration will be scheduled in 2009. The sacrament is open to seventh and eighth graders who are actively taking part in a parish religious education program. Candidates are also required to complete 30 hours of service to family, parish and community. Candidates also must attend a retreat. All areas are covered through religious education classes.
